IGF 2013 Cancelled by Indonesia

: The Global Conference on Internet Governance Forum (IGF) 2013, which was schedule to be held  in Nusa Dua, Bali on October 22 to 25, 2013, confirmed canceled.
According to Head of Public Relations and Information Center, Ministry of Communication and Information Gatot S. Dewa Broto told detikINET , Thursday (07/25/2013), ” Due to the short of funds the Global conference has been cancelled. We’ve reported informally to the IGF secretariat. IGF 2013 will cost around Rp 22 billion. Where from Id-IGF organizers had collected Rp 9 billion, while the Ministry of Communications allocates Rp 2.5 billion. So less around Rp 10.5 billion. Had also raised additional funds through the state budget or from BP3TI budget, but failed to materialize. The budget is already tight, with some nations willing to self-finance their own capital alias.  So with a heavy heart we have to cancel, we apologize to stakeholders Indonesian internet.”

The Government in this regard Ministry of Communications or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should send a letter of inability to host the official told the UN chief, which has not been done. Conference on Global Internet Governance Forum itself was originally planned to be attended by about 2,500 stakeholders in the field of the Internet over the world to discuss internet governance inclusive, transparent, accountable and egalitarian. The 1,000 participants of whom are expected to come from Indonesia. Around  154 internet ready workshop was to be  held with topics AZ. Start discussing about freedom of expression, regulation, internet security, internet and other related topics.
