The
Himalayan times reports, that in the past 10 days at least five rape cases have been reported in the eastern hilly district of Panchthar Phindim. The cases are reported to be of victims range from six to 75 years, and in most cases, the perpetrators are their own relatives.
The police have managed to book the culprits in three cases, with the perpetrator of another case on the run and yet another staying at home after the case was settled with the initiative of the police at the local level.
A six-year-old was raped by Tek Bahadur Kerung in Memeng-4 on Monday in her own house. The perpetrator was arrested after a complaint was filed by the victim’s family.
A day earlier, Prem Tamang of Yasok had raped two girls, an 11-year-old and a 19-year-old from his own village. Police said Tamang had been sexually abusing a teenage girl with impaired hearing for months.
Similarly, a 75-year-old woman of Memeng-4 was raped by her own nephew on August 14. Police closed the case after the perpetrator’s family agreed to fund her treatment.
Likewise, 37-year-old Bhawani Rai, who had made a rape attempt on his 11-year-old niece, has been on the run since the incident on July 11. Police said they were searching for him.
A 40 year old Man is listed as wanted for Raping his own daughter in Hwama VDC Rolpa. The incident came into alight after victim’s mother lodged complaint at police against her husband demanding legal action on July 26. It has been reported that the father raped his own 12 years old Daughter for over a year.
According to the Police, “The victim’s mother launched a complain against her own husband after she came to know that her daughter was repeatedly raped by own father.”
Father is on run since July 25.
As per the law of the land, a rapist will be sentenced to 6 year and 6 month in jail and a person guilty of incestuous rape will be slapped a 10-year prison term.
Deepak BK a twelve-year-old boy was murdered by Durge Satar, a rickshaw-puller of Damak, Jhapa in connection of a rape case in Urlabari, Morang. The street kid was one of the witness of the case.
According to the Police, ” They found the body of BK’s in the toilet of Jeevan Neupane’s house on Friday. BK was blackmailing Satar against the rape case where satar plotted the murder. Three persons, including Durge, had attacked BK while he was running to the police station to report about the incident.”
Bishal Magar, 12, of Lakhanpur, Jhapa, who had witnessed the sexual abuse, said, “Satar had offered Rs 500 cash to the victim after having an illicit relation with her.”

three weeks ago is in a traumatic situation of pain and peril. She has been under treatment in the children national hospital Kanti where she is suffering pain, awaiting justice.
The girl’s private parts were damaged badly and doctors at the National Hospital are worried about her health condition and well being. Recently the girl went under a surgery to insert a tube inside her private parts to prevent further infection and she awaits another operation to fix her back to normal functions. With lack of funds, the girl’s mother is left with no option except to wait and to see her child suffer.
According to her she had knocked the doors of the Children-Women in Social Service and Human Rights (CWISH) and the District Child Welfare Board (DCWB) for financial assistance but she was turned down.
Her mother use to work as a wages worker and earned NRs 300 a day in average and after the incident she has no means of income generation. She has already spent Nrs 45,000 and now she has no means to even cover the medicine expenses.
